Diane Lane (born January 22, 1965) is an American actress born in New York, New York. She has successfully made the transition from child (and teenage) actor to adult actor. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in Unfaithful (2002).

Diane Lane was born in New York City on January 22, 1965, to acting coach father Burt Lane and nightclub singer/centerfold Colleen Farrington. With those two for parents, it was almost genetically inevitable that Diane would possess a mix of acting ability, stunning good looks, and smoldering sexuality. Of course, she would have to grow into those last two attributes.

The acting ability came almost as soon as she was born, and by age six Diane had made her stage debut in acclaimed theater director Andrei Serbian´s Medea. Her performance so captivated Serbian that he continued to cast her in his productions for the next five years.

Regarded as one of the most talented and versatile leading ladies in feature films and on television today, Diane Lane virtually grew up on the screen. She was raised an only child by drama coach Burt Lane after he split up with her mother, one-time Playboy playmate, Colleen Farrington, just after Diane was born. Her father´s love for the arts rubbed off on Diane and by the time she was six, she was already on stage performing with the New York theater group La MaMa in such far off places as Amsterdam and Italy. Interestingly, neither of her parents accompanied her on her thespian adventure. She was taken care of by the other performers in the group who essentially became her home and family.

Lane made an impressive feature film debut in George Roy Hill´s movie A Little Romance, in which she starred with screen legend Sir Laurence Olivier. Filmmakers, critics and audiences were captivated by the young beauty and by the time she was fourteen she had landed on the cover of Time and into the hearts of America.

Diane was on her way to superstardom, quickly winning additional parts in Francis Ford Coppola´s The Outsiders and Rumble Fish. Unfortunately, she also ended up in two poorly received films the following year, the musical Streets of Fire and the controversial The Cotton Club. Soon after, the five foot six ingenue seemed to fade from popular view up until her Emmy nominated turn in the hit mini-series Lonesome Dove reminded audiences and critics of her compelling and complex thespian abilities. Numerous feature films and television movies followed, thus maintaining her position on the Hollywood playing field.

It took years of hard work and determination, but Diane gracefully endured the difficult transition from ingenue to leading lady status in such films as A Walk On The Moon, My Dog Skip and The Perfect Storm.

On her off time, Diane likes to travel, but especially loves to spend as much time as possible with her daughter, Eleanor, whom she had with ex-husband and fellow actor, Christopher Lambert of Highlander fame.

Hello I am a peson who saw one of your movies. It was with richard gere. I noticed on that movie extreme sex scenes with nudity. I don´t thinnk its necessary to do all those sex scenes to be a fantastic actress. I sure like you. I think this has been said often to you. But to me it´s kind of unique because i don´t see many movies. Only westerns. I dont see moveis in cinemas. And like I said I only see westerns. I saw that movie with you and Richard Gere on a cabel channel and I saw it because I feel atracted to youy although I don´t know you and probably I will never. And its sad because I think you could be a real girlfriend eheh
