When I was 12, watching a kids´ program like Mickey Mouse Club was beneath me. However, if no one was in the house I´d turn it on just to see Annette. If someone came home I´d change channels. After many months of slinking, I heard a guy in class mentioning Annette Funicello. I had never known her last name but I perked up in hopes it was THE Annette. As it turns out, we were ALL watching Mickey Mouse Club, praying that Annette would introduce the cartoon so we´d get a better look. It´s so amazing that millions of pubescent boys picked her out of the crowd when all of the Mouseketeers got equal time. Darlene was actually better looking. An observant friend of mine said we noticed her because she was the only one who wasn´t Waspy.
